Myaolbroadband.co.uk Review

It may still carry the AOL brand name but AOL Broadband (www.aolbroadband.co.uk) is actually part of the Carphone Warehouse (CPW) stable of companies after their recent £370 million acquisition of the UK broadband delivery business. While many thought that CPW have over paid for the acquisition the service has continued to grow in what is a very competitive broadband sector. They have brought the CPW cutting edge to the business, increased the service reliability as well as increasing broadband speeds across the board. The old AOL Broadband business has been replaced by a new and up to date service which is growing in popularity. Many customers have been surprised to see broadband package prices remain broadly unchanged despite the improvements in the service, something which CPW promised when they bought the business. After a period of falling customer subscriptions AOL Broadband is back on the up and up and fighting it out for top spot in the sector.

I only just found out a few weeks ago that I am now a customer of the Carphone Warehouse as I tend not to read my AOL emails. Since i started to look into this further I see there have been some upgrades to the system already but my subscription amount has not changed. Is this rght?

I have seen a major difference in both reliability and speed since the broadband business was taken over by Carphone Warehouse. They send regular emails letting you know what is happeneing, seem to be continually increase transfer speeds and seem to offer a better all round service. A definite improvement from the old service.

When i first saw that Carphone Warehouse were taking over the business I thought that I would get hit with load of mobile phone offers. Thankfully this has not been the case – although there are some great offers around! Even though I was fairly happy with my old Aol Broadband service the new improve Carphone service is much better with broadband speed recently increased at no cost to me. I had thought about leaving Aol a while ago when there service started to fall in quality but i will be staying for the longer temr with this new improved service.

As an aol user for many years it pains me to say that the service has deteriorated markedly in recent months. In particular broadband frequently disconnects itself, at random, and whenever the phone rings! One might as well have dial-up. It’s often difficult to re-connect, too.
I would definitely not recommend anyone to sign up to aol now, particularly as their prices are way ahead of (for example) tiscali. Unfortunately I have some months to go before I can escape my current contract - but I’m counting the days…
