You have probably seen their adverts on TV, presented by the ever popular Carol Vorderman, who became famous on Channel 4’s TV show, Countdown. You will never speak to some call centre agent in India as all of their 450 friendly staff are based exclusively in the UK, in Cardiff actually. Another fact which you may not know is that they are a wholly owned subsidiary of Barclays Bank Plc., so they have really big guns behind them. Although when we took out our loan the process of receiving the cheque was very quick, when trying to repay it has been a total nightmare!!
Average Customer Review::I faxed FirstPlus on 6 May 2008 requesting a settlement figure as we were due to complete on our house sale on 16th May. Without giving you the full gorrie details, myself and my solicitors were phoning FirstPlus up to 3 times a day from the 14th May. We evenutally got the settlement figure on 22nd May. Due to the astronomical amount they want repaid (PLEASE BEWARE, THEY CHARGE A MENTAL AMOUNT OF INTEREST ON SETTLEMENT!!) we have a shortfall. I have been in touch with their shortfall dept since 22nd May everyday. In fact, I think I’ll ask the girl out for a drink I’ve spoken to her that much.
The date today is 10 June, my house is still empty, the new owners cannot move in yet & are asking me to compensate them for their loses (understandable I suppose) and I am sick with worry & nerves. They just don’t seem to care!!
