TheAA.com Car Insurance Review

While probably the best known of the motoring organisations in the UK, The AA (www.theaa.com), is one more UK institution which has changed hands on a number of occasions. Demutualised in 1999 the group was swiftly acquired by Centrica, the massive UK gas business who had planned utilise both their own and the AA’s substantial client base to increase income for the group. Sadly this did not go wholly to plan and the AA division was acquired by Venture Capital groups CVC and Permira in 2004 for £1.75 billion. After a series of cost cutting exercises the service of the AA was called into question by a number of motoring groups, resulting in an acknowledgement that cost and service cuts had been over done. Thankfully this lack of investment was reversed and the group soon reverted to their well known levels of service. Sold yet again for £3.35 billion in 2007 the AA has been merged with Saga, the over 50’s services group in what many see as a match made in heaven.

Loving the AA, go a great deal from theaa.com/voucher and i broke down with 2 weeks, so it was well worth it. The aa man turned up in less than 30 mins which i think is pretty good.

have already rung and cancelled the policy and asked for my no claims. A really nice lady dealt with it. But I have just had my renewal posted to me.

Don’t you make life difficult? I can pay for my mail order shopping 24/7 using the automated payment system by phone. I tried to pay my car insurance renewal in the same way but was told that the office was closed. I then tried on-line but gave up , user id and password, I don’t know if I’ve got one so I filled it in only to be told it was wrong.

    A very frustrated customer.

I have to say that the AA are a live saver. In the last year I have been forced to call them out twice and both time they arrived in less than 20 minutes and were very polite. Thank you AA
