Three.co.uk/star

Three (www.3.co.uk) were the first 3G mobile phone network in the UK, and I believe these are still the UK’s largest 3G network. 3 offer some excellent features and services but I choose them due the unbeatable value for money they offer. I was originally concerned about their coverage but that all changed years ago. Three now has 99% UK population coverage for voice and text, and the largest population coverage for video services. Buying the phone online was very easy, and the 3G coverage was much better than I hoped for, not a single dropped call. Three.co.uk/star I got 500 mins per month for only £15 which was half the amount I used to pay with O2. Highly recommended.

While not one of the larger phone companies in the country they have a great range of phones on offer and all the latest ones are there. Not sure if the price plans compare well with other network providers but it seems to do the job for me and I have no complaints. Coverage has been excellent.

I have been with the likes of Carphone Warehouse before but did not find they looked after me well enough – I was just another number for them. Three are a lot more helpful and willing to take time to listen to someone like me who has not got a clue about mobile phones. The call centre has been fantastic.

I was very surprised when I rang Three and checked out their website, they really do offer some great phones and good deals on call costs. I’m not quite sure why they are not bigger as in my experience they seem as good if not better than anyone else I have tried before. The staff are more than helpful and will go out of their way to listen and tell you what’s on offer. The kids seem to like the new Three phones but I’m not even sure what the old ones did never mind the new ones! If it’s good enough for the kids it’s good enough for me

Life is sooo difficult, i’ve been with threee.co.uk on and off for the last 4 years and i have to say they have been the best of a bad bunch, e.g. vodafone and t-mobile, so i want to stay with them. But the 3g iphone is coming out really soon and it’s gonna be free on o2 for £45 a month, which is a lot more than i currently pay, but the iphone is pretty!! decision, decision.

I could get an unlocked one but becuase they are going to be free on contract i dont think i have a choice.

3 offer and deals may sound good, but make sure you live in a good voerage area. I got a payg from from (www.3pay.co.uk) and the reception is not that great in the sticks were i live. I frustrated with forever struggling for reception for voice calls and having to resorting to texts most of the time when at home. at work its fine it just and home that the problem happens

Overall the service, phone and coverage of my 3 mobile phone has been really, really good. The prices are brilliant so i would give 5 stars but recently i have to call the customer services a coupled of times and found the call center staff difficult to understand, i had to wait ages and horrible recorded music when left on hold. so i gotta drop it down to 4.

    I hate 3. My experiences ……….

    1.

I lost my phone a while back. My graduate Barclays account has free mobile insurance and they wanted proof of ID. I phoned 3 and requested it. They sent me a word editable document with no logo and someone else’s details on it. I re-requested 4 more times before I got a proof of purchase with logo in my name (still word editable). Faxed it to Barclays as per instructions. Waited…..

At 2 weeks I phoned and said “what’s happening?” - was told that my phone wasn’t in stock and may take a little longer than normal.

At 4 weeks I was called back and phone model was confirmed - was told it would be two weeks.

At 6 weeks I phoned - was told that it was on its way.

At 8 weeks I phoned - was told that 3rd party information was holding it up. Not allowed to know the 3rd party.

At 12 weeks - 2 police officers turn up at my apartment and say they have to arrest me and are taking me to the station for insurance fraud! Apparently Barclays had queried the proof of purchase and three had said it was counterfeit!!! Barclays then phoned police. I showed them the emails backward and forward from Barclays/three and they determined there must be some mistake. I then spent days on the phoned complaining and trying to get my phone.

In the end Barclays gave me £250 and three denied that anything had ever happened - no phone logs/letters/emails were ever received.

It took me 1 hour arguing with three customer services at the end of my 12 month contract to get a puk code for a phone I didn’t have or use for 4 months. I had to ask for the supervisor 7-10 times before he conceded and allowed me to end my contract. Now with T-Mobile - no problems so far.

    2.

Girlfriend has two contracts with 3. Both ready for upgrades so she phoned up and arranged deals for both. When phones arrived they were both older models i.e. N95 instead of N96 & LG U990 instead of Renior. The price plan was also increased for both phones and for the price of the phone. So far all calls to customer services has resulted in them saying that no supervisors/managers are there and the guy that my girlfriend spoke to make the deal is not in work at the moment. A manager from 3 phoned back and stated that they could exchange the 96 for a 95 but they couldn’t exchange the LG as it had been turned on (before we realised it’s a different phone - looks similar).

We requested the call recordings and were told not every call was recorded. The manager stated that there were calls recorded but not for the date of the sale (for upgrades being negotiated) which is needed for proof. Later in the conversation he stated that no calls were recorded. We requested to make a complaint and he said that we were speaking to manager and we could lodge a complaint with him. We asked for a complaints department and were told there isn’t one. We requested for UK numbers for complaints/sales/customer services and were told that he didn’t have those numbers.

Since realising we have the wrong phones all calls have been recorded and names taken.

So now we have two wrong phones - 1 we can’t return and another that we either have to pay an extra £100 for/downgrade contract & phone model.

3 sales deliberately promise false deals knowing that the customer can’t get what they were promised or don’t realise they have been sold something else.

We have threatened to contact ofcom, cancel direct debits/close bank account & not send phones back until resolved.

If anyone knows how to deal with theses b***ards please let me know.

    Verdict:

    NEVER get a 3 contract!

If you want to really upset yourself, pay well over the odds and generally get off to a really bad week try the following. Contact “3″ about a phone bill for a lost mobile that was stolen and fully reported to the police then stopped at “3″ in September of last year, then find out you have still been paying for it, spend two hours on the phone to India getting nowhere with the end result of being transferred and having to start all over again. I even went to the store in Aberdeen “3″ and even they were unable to sort it out. USELESS customer service, they all seem automated and are totally unable to sort anything out. The new phone they sent me was meant to work in South America, another untruth,Thanks for nothing “3″.They are also very careful when calling them not to offer the best upgrade, we found this out due to the phone they sent to myself. Simply it was not.”3″ are not the best company to deal with re there back up is the worst I have dealt with.
